La Fonte Ardennaise: cast iron men

La Fonte Ardennaise was the first subcontracting metal processing business in Europe and integration is one of its great strengths

Emile Grosdidier first set up this French Ardennes metallurgy business in 1927 (it will celebrate its 90th birthday at the end of the year). This is  firm evidence of how much impetus the sector has. The Grosdidier family is still at the helm. This family business which trades worldwide (56% of its turnover is exported) is firmly rooted in French Ardennes.

The company, which specialises in metal processing, has diversified over the years to meet market demands. Its main markets, which are highly competitive, are the automotive and industrial vehicle sectors, public sector contracts and heating industry. The company has also expanded and developed its work in the fields of plastic processing, metal machining and surface processing. It announced a turnover of 195 million euros in 2016 and employs 1,300 people.

La Fonte Ardennaise was the first subcontracting metal processing business in Europe and integration is one of its great strengths. The way its fields of work complement each other and its wide range of bases in France, Serbia and Spain mean that it can work with its customers from the concept stage of a project. The company provides technical expertise and its accessible locations facilitate logistics.

La Fonte Ardennaise is a traditional French Ardennes metallurgy industry company, but had the foresight to break into the world market. This is a confirmation of the quality of French industry.
