The Ardennes: a logistics and transport network connected to Europe

Within the department of the Ardennes, many companies in sectors ranging from the metal industry to the automotive, technical textiles and floor coverings industries, often operating under the ‘Just in Time’ business model, continually call on the expertise of almost 280 logistical players

In order to support their challenging and sometimes innovative industrial activity, economic players within the French Ardennes have developed an operational logistics network.

Within the department of the Ardennes, many companies in sectors ranging from the metal industry to the automotive, technical textiles and floor coverings industries, often operating under the ‘Just in Time’ business model, continually call on the expertise of almost 280 logistical players.

Among them are many carriers that, have managed to adapt their activities developing ‘last mile’ storage, co-packing, distribution and delivery services, in order to satisfy their customers and remain competitive. French Ardennes also enables major export maritime transport via the fluvial port at Givet, connected to the major ports of the North Sea.

Regarding road connections, the opening of the A304 motorway enhances the network performance by optimizing which is most precious : time. This new road connection provides an effective alternative to the A1 and A31motorways, which are regularly congested, thus positioning the Ardennes as an European crossroads (at the crossing of the Rotterdam – Marseille and Paris – Berlin routes).

Right along this motorway – which no tolls to the north of Reims - the Ardennes region has installed 5 business areas right on the interchange, representing almost 200 hectares available, aimed at investors and logistics players.
