The Japanese group Amada (2.5 billion euros in turnover, 8 000 employees), one of the global leaders in laser-cutting and sheet metal punching and folding machines manufacturing, is investing and consolidating its production site in the Ardennes to make it become its European centre.

Established in 1971, the Ardennes factory currently managed by David Schirmer, is investing 20 million euros over 3 years, in order to modernise its production and to expand, building new premises to host its European logistics. The site extension will amount to a total of 8,500 m² of new buildings. The company, which currently employs 110 employees at the site, will also increase its workforce by 2017.

Taking advantage of its location in the Ardennes, the new storage platform will enable the company to serve the entire European market, which now accounts for a large proportion of the global market, both in terms of turnover and strategic interest. The group’s objective is to increase its share in the European market, by improving management of the supply chain, but also by offering new products being continually more tailored, personalised, effective and energy-efficient.

New equipment, including robotic equipment, will also enable the company to increase efficiency while maintaining the quality of its working conditions. These investments reflect the philosophy of the group’s founder, Isamu AMADA: to move forward with his customers, to develop human potential, to respect human beings and their environment… The Asian influence, combined with the added value of the ‘Made in France’ label, have contributed to the growing success experienced by Amada Europe, of which the new deputy CEO is none other than Jean-François Vanier, formerly responsible for the Ardennes site.
