Arcavi ensures waste transforms into an energy source

The Ardennes organisation for Improving Quality of Life has been developing innovative waste recovery solutions since its foundation in 1978.

In the beginning, Arcavi’s main priority was involvement in controlled landfill sites in Eteignières area. As of today, the organisation has broadened its range of capacities to include sorting centre management, composting plants, timber shredding and energy recovery and leachate treatment. The organisation also provides authorities and industrial clients with waste treatment solutions adapted to their needs at an attractive price. Arcavi also combines initiatives to produce electricity from renewable resources.

The company has recently added a hydrogen desulfurization tower at Eteignères in order to optimise energy production and make the process more profitable. This system enables the purification of biogas produced from organic matter stored on site, while eliminating hydrogen sulphide. This corrosive gas can cause poor functioning in recovery motors. Arcavi makes the most of its facilities. Another aspect is that the heat generated from cooling motors and combustion smoke is transformed into hot water which then heats biological basins, evapo-concentrators, the desulfurization tower or the 2.500 m² greenhouses at Maraîchers d’Arduina.

Pioneering sustainable development and being at the forefront of the energy mix, the Ardennes is demonstrating through Arcavi’s activities that ecology can rhyme with economy.
