Argonne: a confirmed tourist destination

Argonne: a confirmed tourist destination

New activities, a growing leisure park, reinforced communications — the Argonne region of French Ardennes is attracting more and more visitors.

In 2019, the tourist office in Vouziers chose a new name to promote its destination "Argonne en Ardenne" with the slogan "Get a taste of nature !"». Nature and authenticity are the region's key strengths. With its forested landscapes, biodiversity and numerous outdoors activities, Argonne is clearly positioned in eco-tourism. Parc Argonne Découverte is the location that best symbolises this. In 2019, the park attracted more than 56,000 visitors (70% of whom were from outside the Ardennes), bringing it up to the number of visitors to the Château-Fort de Sedan. Since 8 February 2020, it has started a new season with half-price tariffs (until 8 March) to watch the animal parades. Still in the spirit of combining a fun activity and learning about the environment, Maison de la Nature in Boult-aux-Bois is also a well-known Argonne tourist site. Since 2019, it has organised "nature" excursions accessible to people with limited mobility thanks to specially adapted Segways.

Argonne in the Ardennes now offers visits to the historic and architectural heritage of the town of Vouziers and a new "Discover the Vieil-Etang de Bairon" trail to observe the many birds that live on this Natura 2000 classified site. At the end of January, the tourist office launched a new family activity called "In search of Roland Garros's aeroplane" to discover the town through puzzles.

Nature activities, historic heritage, remembrance sites, gastronomy, arts and crafts, Argonne in the Ardennes unveils its riches through original activities and a colourful way of communicating. Furthermore, in the last survey conducted by Argonne en Ardenne, tourists gave their stay an average score of 4.7 out of 5. In brief, French Ardennes still has surprises in store and something to enchant you!
