From 24th to 27th August, around 100,000 festival-goers were able to enjoy French Ardennes thanks to this musical event, which is known across France and has clearly defined values.

Since its creation in 2005, “Le Cabaret Vert” has been part of a process to promote and development the Ardennes region. A real showcase for artisans and producers from the Ardennes, “Le Cabaret Vert” promotes local connections, particularly by associating itself with the Ardennes de France association. More than 100 different dishes, including many typical recipes from the Ardennes - cacasse à cul nu (a rustic dish with potatoes and onions), salad with bacon, etc. - and 41 different beers (brewed less than 200km from Charleville-Mézières) are available. Catering, decoration and technical installations: something “made in Ardennes” can be found everywhere. Le Cabaret Vert has been a responsible festival since the very beginning, advocating the local economy and sustainable development (waste sorting, recycling, etc.). It embodies the values of the Ardenne brand (well-being, authenticity, charm, nature).

Over the years, the festival has grown with additional programmes (comic book festival, street arts, cinema, charity booths, conferences, workshops, etc.). This year, it also hosted the second Hackathon by the association HackArdennes, which helps to develop the digital sector in the region. Over 4 days, developers, graphic designers and other volunteers worked on prototyping innovative web applications on the theme of sustainable development, in a friendly and sociable atmosphere. Tested live by nearly 1400 festival-goers, 3 projects competed with each other. “Les Sardines” and their platform for re-using abandoned camping equipment after each festival (21% on average) outperformed its competitors “UT” and its application for payment by telephone and “PotoOutay” which helps users to find friends who’ve got lost at the festival.

Proud of its identity, “Le Cabaret Vert” contributes both to the Ardennes’ economy and to the region’s standing. Moreover, the wide range of activities which are included every year allows the festival to expand its audience. Like the world festival of puppet theatre, today “Le Cabaret Vert” is a major cultural event for the French Ardennes and the Grand Est region.
