Bestechnologies: cutting-edge industry in green surroundings

In French Ardennes, just a few miles from Sedan and the main motorways, in a pastoral hilly setting, Bestechnologies supports manufacturers with the production of high-performance tools.

Founded in 1980 by Roland Bestel, the industrial design company has gradually expanded to include machining, assembly, mechanised welding and metrology (digital 3D control). Now run by Jean-Baptiste Bestel, an engineer by training and son of the founder, Bestechnologies has heavily invested to keep pace with technological developments and optimise its equipment (software, licences, machining centres and extended buildings). It has a substantial set of 14 machines, nine of which are less than six years old.

Bestechnologies recently acquired a high-capacity seven-axis digitally-controlled machining centre. Its installation required structural work on the building to accommodate a 40-tonne overhead travelling crane. The investment came to €1.7 million, including €800,000 in aid granted under the stimulus plan. This equipment will enable French Ardennes company to design tools to produce very large parts (car sides, wagon sub-assemblies, etc.) and diversify its markets. Historically focused on the automotive sector (covering 30% of its production), Bestechnologies has turned its attention to the aerospace industry and its complex technical issues, to energy (a key sector for meeting new environmental challenges) and to defence. Its annual sales are in the region of €3 million.

Always on the lookout for innovation, this Ardennes-based SME with around 20 staff is constantly developing and giving itself the means to progress. Bestechnologies is currently looking for new talent.

Beneath its air of calm and tranquillity, French Ardennes is a hotbed of industrial activity geared towards excellence.
