“Face B”: summer cultural event in French Ardennes

Following a health crisis that led to the cancellation of the Cabaret Vert 2021, the FLaP association, organiser of the famous musical festival and the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes have joined forces for over a month of festivities in the Ardennes. From 19 August to 26 September 2021, “Face B” occuppied La Macérienne (a former industrial site and headquarters of FLaP), which has been converted for the occasion into an temporary cultural venue that is open 6 days a week.

On the programme: concerts (including Iam, Benjamin Biolay, Stephan Eicher and more), conferences, debates, afterworks parties, film screenings, exhibitions, activities for young audiences, citizens' meetings, etc. There will be several highlights during these 5 weeks. After the concerts, the new school year will begin with the comic book weekend and talks with the authors, workshops, exhibitions, drawing battles, etc. The following weekend (10 to 12 September) will be devoted to sustainable development, a theme that is especially dear to Cabaret Vert. Then, from 18 to 19 September, the European Heritage Days will mark the start of the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes, a biannual event that has been held since 1961 in Charleville-Mézières. La Macérienne will host several shows, conferences, exhibitions and surprise puppet performance based on the character of Pulcinella.

For the first time, the two major Ardennes festivals are working together to offer Ardennes and visitors a unique artistic and celebratory event in an exceptional setting. Through a strong symbol of the region’s industrial history (La Macérienne), the Ardennes demonstrate their positive spirit and their ability to unite in adversity with this event.
