Fonderies Nicolas: working outside the box

Fonderies Nicolas: working outside the box

In French Ardennes, industry and foundries have long played a vital role. Based in Nouzonville since 1900, Fonderies Nicolas is a perfect example.

For nearly 100 years, Fonderies Nicolas has been designing, producing and shaping cast iron parts ranging from 10 g to 25 kg, in small and very large quantities, and from basic models to incredibly complex designs.

The company was taken over in 2012 by Mohand Ben Bournane, and has been constantly evolving ever since. Its new owner has invested extensively in the buildings, R&D and modernising the production tools, and further investments are in the works. These endeavours have all served to help the company steadily increase its activities and meet the requirements of different customers. The company offers as-cast or machined products for a diverse range of sectors, including public works, railways, energy, agriculture, industrial pumps, and even hydraulics.

Today, the SME has 37 employees, and they all share the same commitment to maintaining its reputation and relationships with large international groups. A passionate champion of French Ardennes, Mr Ben Bournane has joined forces with other local founders to strengthen the sector.

Thanks to its impressive quality and performance, Fonderies Nicolas received an award for its industrial know-how in 2018, keeping French Ardennes tradition of metalworking alive.
