In the first quarter of 2016, with the help of Ardennes Développement, the company Métha’Ventures installed its new premises within the Signy-l’Abbaye business park, property of the Community of Communes of Crêtes Préardennaises.

The company specialises in methanation and offers also a broader range of competences in the field of renewable energies. Clément Courtehoux, the company president, is an engineer graduated from AgroParisTech, and having also a sound experience in finance and management acquired at Mazars and Frey.

In order to achieve its objectives, Métha'Ventures operates a network of selected partners, offering a comprehensive range of solutions in the field of methanation, from the initial idea through to the operational implementation.

Furthermore, the creation of a project-based legal entity is planned, held 50% by Métha’Ventures and 50% by farm operators, eventually completed by means of fund-raising or crowd-funding (Métha’invest).

Three projects are currently ongoing in the Ardennes, in Raucourt-et-Flaba, Chaumont-Porcien and Sauville. However, Métha’Ventures also operates elsewhere in France (Poitou-Charentes, Normandy), as well as abroad, most notably in Africa.

The key advantage of Métha’Ventures offer is its ability to provide tailored and feasible solutions, by developping local methanation projects. In fact, the market offering for small-scale methanation (< 75 kW) is non-existent or unaffordable in France. The company is responding to this need and is thus participating in the democratisation of methanation on farms. "Medium-sized farming businesses have neither the means nor the need to purchase a Mercedes - what they need is a small car, simple, robust and less expensive to use and maintain."

In order to realise its projects successfully, the team is comprised of 5 people, with the intention to grow to more than 7 people in the future.

This company installation is particularly interesting to the Ardennes, in terms of employment and expertise with export potential, but also because it is in line with the strategy of the Community of Communes of Crêtes Préardennaises, firmly focused on sustainable development. This group of communes and municipalities has in fact been recognised as Positive Energy Territory for Green Growth (Territoire à Energie Positive pour une Croissance Verte, TEPCV) by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy.
