Vynex: relocation becomes a reality
In May 2024, Vynex inaugurated its new production unit in French Ardennes, in the presence of local personalities and economic organisations such as Ardennes Développement who helped bring this project to fruition.
Founded in 1920, Vynex specialises in the manufacture of technical fasteners for the construction industry. It is the French market leader in wire drawing and hardware, employing 220 people. In 2022, it announced that it would be relocating a significant proportion of its ROCKET screw production from Taiwan to its plant in Thelonne (08). To make this initiative a reality, the Ardennes-based company, now part of the German Suki group, has implemented an investment plan worth around €3m over two years. As part of the Recovery Plan, the Grand Est Region has granted financial support of €800K, representing 36% of the industrial investment and around 25% of the overall investment.
This strategic decision underlines Vynex's commitment to 'Made In France' - the words appear in tricolour shades on their packaging. The project, supported by the public authorities, is designed to increase the country's industrial independence and promote local economic vitality. This approach offers a number of strategic advantages:
Increasing their ‘know-how’: taking back control of all stages of production and continuing their drive for continuous improvement in the quality of their products
Independence and security of supply: being more responsive and reducing dependence on international supply chains
Quality and proximity: developing the industrial fabric and local know-how and ensuring better quality control
Reduction of environmental impact: cutting down transport distances, minimising the carbon footprint and thus contributing to a more environmentally-friendly approach.
The investment has resulted in the setting up of three production islands equipped with coining machines, rolling machines, splitters and a heat treatment line, boosting local production capacity.
At the inauguration, Vynex emphasised its ongoing commitment to innovation, quality and the economic development of the region and French Ardennes in particular.
