AFS Sedan: partnering steel producers for over a century
Since it was founded in 1882, the Ardennes-based company has changed name and ownership, but has always retained its undisputed expertise in the production of tools for the steel industry.
Rebranded AFS Sedan (Advanced Foundry Services) since 2014, following the takeover of the company by two managers, the manufacturer of rolling mill rolls is continuing to develop and modernise. AFS Sedan has been supplying international steel groups such as Arcelor Mittal and Thyssen Krupp for over a century. The Ardennes-based manufacturer specialises in the production of rolling mill rolls, with high standards of technical expertise and quality recognised by all its customers. Every year, more than 1,000 pieces measuring over 7 m in length and weighing up to 30 tons leave the Ardennes factory.
Managed by Olivier Giot, a committed stakeholder in the Ardennes economy, AFS Sedan employs 230 people and around 15 temporary staff. Human expertise is central to the company's success. That's why the Ardennes-based company regularly takes on young people (trainees, sandwich courses, professional training contracts) to transfer specialist skills, as well as offering its employees training to develop their professional mobility and keep them at the cutting edge of technology.
In 2022, AFS Sedan generated sales of €43 million. To maintain and develop its business, the Ardennes-based manufacturer is investing in new equipment.
As a region famous for metalworking, the Ardennes' industrialists have attracted major players in this sector through the quality of their work, which they maintain and develop by integrating new technologies.
